Raised in rural Muskoka, Valerie’s public school education was completed in Muskoka, followed by her undergraduate degree in Law and Justice, from Laurentian University, in 1986. She graduated from Windsor Law in 1989, then worked as a summer student, and later completed her articles with Beard Winter, in Toronto. Valerie was called to the Bar in 1991 in Toronto. After working a number of years away from Muskoka, Valerie opened this office in Gravenhurst in 2008, focussing initially on Family Law. Soon, the needs of the community lead to an expansion of her practice to include Real Estate law and Wills and Estate Administration.
Very much involved with her community, Valerie was the President of the Muskoka Law Association for a number of years, an avid South Muskoka Minor Hockey mom and the Treasurer on the Board of Directors for the Lake Country Community Legal Clinic for 9 years. She continues to be a member of the Gravenhurst Chamber of Commerce. Raising money for cancer research has been a focus for Valerie over the last 2 decades, having been a past participant/guest speaker in the Muskoka Relay for Life, volunteer/guest speaker at the Bracebridge Run for the Cure, Run Day Program Co-ordinator for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation’s CIBC Bracebridge Run For The Cure in 2013, and has participated in the Toronto One Walk to Cure Cancer multiple times. Continued fundraising efforts are planned for the future.
